Project Review
Dexion Speedlock Racking Strip-Out
Project Overview
This project involved the full strip-out and removal of an existing Dexion Speedlock pallet racking installation from an operational warehouse environment. The scope covered the safe dismantling, handling, and clearance of all racking components in line with site safety requirements and agreed programme timelines.
Racking Specification Removed
The following Dexion racking stock was successfully dismantled and removed from site:
- Frames:
- Dexion 8500mm x 850mm frames – 345 units
- Beams:
- Dexion 2650mm x 105mm x 50mm beams – 4,348 units
All components were systematically dismantled, lowered, and segregated to ensure safe handling and efficient loading.
Methodology & Execution
Works were carried out using a phased strip-out approach to maintain control of the working area and minimise disruption. Trained operatives dismantled the racking using appropriate access equipment, with components lowered to floor level rather than dropped. Mechanical handling equipment was used for the movement and stacking of frames and beams once removed.
The work area was kept tidy throughout, with loose fixings, mesh, and debris cleared progressively to maintain a safe environment.
Health & Safety
Health and safety were prioritised throughout the project. All operatives wore appropriate PPE, and works were carried out in accordance with site RAMS. Exclusion zones were maintained during dismantling operations, and plant movements were controlled to prevent interface issues.
No incidents or near misses were recorded during the duration of the project.
Programme & Performance
The strip-out was completed on programme and within the agreed timeframe. Coordination between the site team and client representatives ensured smooth access and sequencing, allowing the works to progress efficiently.
Outcome
The project was completed successfully, with all specified Dexion Speedlock racking dismantled and removed from site in a safe, controlled, and professional manner. The warehouse area was left clear and ready for the next phase of works.
