Mezzanine Floor Stripout in Hemel Hempstead

Project Review

330sqm Mezzanine Floor Strip-Out – Hemel Hempstead

Project Overview

This project involved the full strip-out and removal of an existing mezzanine floor structure within an operational warehouse facility in Hemel Hempstead. The scope of works covered the safe dismantling, handling, and clearance of the mezzanine floor system, ensuring all activities were carried out in accordance with site safety requirements and the agreed programme.

Scope of Works

  • Strip-out and removal of approximately 330 square metres of mezzanine flooring
  • Dismantling of structural steel columns, beams, and floor panels
  • Removal of handrails, staircases, and edge protection
  • Controlled lowering and stacking of all components at ground level
  • Clearance of all fixings, floor plates, and associated materials

Methodology & Execution

The mezzanine strip-out was undertaken using a planned, phased approach to maintain structural stability throughout the dismantling process. Works commenced with the removal of handrails, barriers, and non-structural elements, followed by floor panels and secondary steelwork.

Primary beams and columns were dismantled sequentially, with components safely lowered using mechanical handling equipment. All materials were stacked in designated areas to allow for efficient loading and removal from site.

Good housekeeping standards were maintained at all times, with fixings and debris cleared progressively to ensure a safe working environment.

Health & Safety

Health and safety were prioritised throughout the project. All works were carried out in accordance with site-specific RAMS, with operatives wearing appropriate PPE at all times. Exclusion zones were established beneath the mezzanine during dismantling, and all lifting operations were planned and controlled.

The project was completed with no accidents or near misses recorded.

Programme & Performance

The strip-out was completed within the agreed programme and without disruption to surrounding site operations. Close coordination with site management ensured smooth access and sequencing, allowing works to progress efficiently.

Outcome

The 330sqm mezzanine floor was successfully dismantled and removed from site in a safe, controlled, and professional manner. The area was left clear, tidy, and ready for future use or redevelopment.
